Social Network Analysis
Mathematica provides state-of-the-art functionality for analyzing and synthesizing graphs and networks. One application of the new functionality is social network analysis. In this talk from the Wolfram Technology Conference 2011, Charles Pooh, a Senior Kernel Developer at Wolfram Research, explains the background of network analysis and basic concepts of network analysis with Mathematica.

Dynamic Insets for Context-Aware Graph Navigation
Maintaining both overview and detail while navigating in graphs, such as road networks, airline route maps, or social networks, is difficult, especially when targets of interest are located far apart. We present a navigation technique called Dynamic Insets that provides context awareness for graph navigation. Dynamic insets utilize the topological structure of the network to draw a visual inset for off-screen nodes that shows a portion of the surrounding area for links leaving the edge of the...

Visualizing Twitter Social Network Data using Gephi: Part 3
In this presentation you will learn how to visualize Twitter social data (Network Data) using open source tool Gephi. Most of the data visualization is done after the network data collected from Twitter and then processed on local machine. The Data was collected in realtime however the processing is done locally one a single machine. The objective of this presentation is to learn the open source graph visualization rather then process...

Context Ontology from Social Media
Social networks are a real challenge in the ground of data mining. Most of social network’s users are active on several, and inquire different information on each of their profile. This project aims at defining a method which combines Data Mining and Semantic Web, to extract and store information on several social networks, including semantic links between them: under the form of an ontology (that is to say a graph including semantic relationship).

The Spontaneous Emergence of Collective Behavior
From the mediaX Seminar, Science Storytelling & the Power of Participation; Damon Centola discusses the impact of network “topology” – the graph-theoretic structure of social ties in a network – and “homophily” – the similarity or differences between connected members of a population – on behavior change in large online populations. His research results show how these factors can directly alter behaviors at both the individual and collective...
