How governments block social media sites
Internet censorship is not uncommon for governments attempting to control the spread of information and suppress social unrest. Between August 18 and 21, India issued four orders, known as Emergency 2012, to have 130 items blocked on the Internet. Turkey is also contemplating whether or not to issue a social media ban due to recent unrest the government feels has been fueled by Internet rumors. This animation illustrates how a government could block Websites or create an Internet blackout.

Social networking for cars
German car maker Daimler is testing a "social networking" system on 120 network-linked cars in Germany.
The field trial is testing Daimler's Car to X, or C2X, system on 120 vehicles in Germany's Rhine-Main region until the end of the year. The C2X system uses a network link on each vehicle that allows vehicles to share information with each other and with traffic infrastructure such as traffic lights.
