Line is the most popular social media platform in Japan, a recently released study has revealed.
The results showed that just under 40% of internet users in the country used Line, with the most popular demographic being females aged between 20 and 29, where 73.8% were users.
Looking further into the data shows that Line has a larger female audience than male, but the largest age group percentage is consistently people in their twenties.

A report has shown that social media users in South Korea lean towards home grown platforms, rather than global names like Facebook.
The survey by Nielsen KoreanClick found that the two leading social media apps on Android were Band, with 15 million unique users each day, and KakaoStory which had 13.7 million users.

New research has shown that Line is currently the top social app in Japan.
The Japanese software firm Just Systems has revealed that the app is by far the leading social platform amongst all age groups, particularly with people in their forties, 84% of whom use Line more than any other service.

Research by Emarketer has revealed that social media is most popular amongst young women in Italy.
Overall in the country, professional social networks were used by 13% of men and 11% of women, with non-professional social networks being used by 58% of women and 55% of men.

WhatsApp has been revealed to be the most popular social network in the Netherlands.
According to data from Newcom Research & Consultancy, WhatsApp has 10.9 million users in the country, compared to Facebook’s 10.4 million users.
